AN EVENING OF SONG WITH KRISTINA LIAN, SOPRANO, AND TOM WAKELEY AT THE PIANO
A potpourri of musical delight with songs ranging from Irving Berlin to Stephen Sondheim, and a few surprises along the way.

KRISTINA LIAN (SOPRANO)
Kristina was born in Sweden, Gothenburg and has lived in London since 1998.
At the age of seven Kristina began to play the piano and a few years later joined a choir where she became a soloist realising the joy of singing.
Kristina studied “The Knack”-ENO, and ” Performance studies in opera” at Birkbeck. She has also got a “Postgrad. Diploma in Performance” from the London College of Music.
She is a professional classical soprano, with an extensive repertoire through classical, musical theatre to lighter jazz/pop.
Kristina has freelanced for many years as a soloist at various locations throughout Europe and has been the principal singer for various vocal ensembles. She has performed at the Sound, Leicester Square, broadcast on MTV and the BBC.
She has won the Sony singing competition and also several London festival competitions in different genres such as: German Lieder, Musical Theatre, and” Free choice”. Opened many highly respected ceremonies, such as London Heroes, Credit Loan Charity with the Archbishop, to name a few.
In recent years she has performed at individual musical theatre shows and has professionally recorded her own music material.
Together with Margaret Lion, pianist, Kristina recorded an album, Loves Philosophy, a collection of classical and musical theatre songs, released on the Discovery Music and Vision label distributed through Wyastone Estate.

TOM WAKELEY (PIANO)
Tom has worked extensively in London’s West End, as Musical Director on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Aspects of Love, By Jeeves, Damn Yankees, and as Children’s Musical Director and 3rd Conductor on Oliver at the London Palladium, and his last position was as Assistant Conductor on the musical Chicago.
He also worked on Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Lust, Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Phantom of the Opera, City of Angels, She Loves Me and Miss Saigon.
Since 1993 Tom has been Vocal Coach at RADA, working in conjunction with the singing teachers there. In 2010 he was invited to Moscow to give two public masterclasses at an International Conference on Music Theatre. In 2013 and 2015 he taught on Music Theatre courses in Manila Philippines.
Tom set up ‘One Voice’ for Rada Business in 2008 and now runs ‘Voices in Harmony’ where he provides singing as a means of Team Building, Self-Discovery and Energising sessions in corporate situations both in London and internationally.
He has appeared with many cabarets with Tiffany Graves, Anita Louise Combe, Dan Goode, Kelly Burke, Rosie Ashe, Maria Kessleman, Nicky Gayner and before lockdown had a regular spot at The Pheasantry with Nicky Haslam and his trio.
