A CONCERT TO CELEBRATE THE LAUNCH OF A NEW CD ON THE LYRITA LABEL BY LEADING VIOLINIST FENELLA HUMPHREYS AND SAVILIAN PIANIST NATHAN WILLIAMSON.

Programme:

Doreen Carwithen – Violin Sonata

W. Orr – Minuet and Serenade

Frederick Delius – Legende

John Ireland – Berceuse and Bagatelle

Lennox Berkeley – Elegy and Toccata

The disc contains the works of well-known and some more neglected British composers of the 20th century, with strong Savile Club connections – Frederick Delius was a member and Doreen Carwithen was married to another, the distinguished composer William Alwyn. The CD has received outstanding reviews in the music press, including 5 stars in the BBC Music Magazine: an exceptional blend of engaging personality, bomb-proof tuning,… state-of-the-art suppleness and fluency, plus a degree of alertness which banishes any sense of the routine.

CDs will be on sale after the concert.
