DR MALCOLM KENDRICK on THE CLOT THICKENS. Savilian John Mason is delighted to present Dr Malcolm Kendrick who will be talking about his critically acclaimed The Clot Thickens.

Dr Malcolm Kendrick graduated in medicine from Aberdeen then worked as a GP partner in Scotland and now in Macclesfield. He developed the original NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) website and the European Society of Cardiology’s online educational system. For several years, he represented GPs on committees for the British Medical Association.

Dr Kendrick is best known for his criticisms of the prevailing diet-heart/cholesterol hypothesis and the over-prescribing of statins. This controversial view, which he believes fits the facts far better than the existing narrative, is outlined in four books: The Great Cholesterol Con, Doctoring Data, A Statin Nation and The Clot Thickens. In this talk, Dr Kendrick will explain why he thinks the cholesterol hypothesis has had its day and need to be supplanted by a different hypothesis – one that actually pre-dates the cholesterol hypothesis by several years, having first been proposed by Karl von Rokitansky in  1852.
