Clara Kanter and Sarah Gabriel present a programme of vocal works by one of Brook Street’s most famous residents, George Frideric Handel. The concert will include arias and duets from Handel’s operas, oratorios and cantatas, including Alcina, Deidamia, Theodora and Giulio Cesare.

Described by Le Monde as ‘As fine an actor as she is a singer’, soprano Sarah Gabriel has performed worldwide onstage and in recital, giving baroque recitals for the London Handel Festival, Handel/Hendrix, the European Broadcasting Union, across Europe, in the Far East and in the United States. Projects for the 2018/2019 season include The Trial of Artemisia (a new solo opera by Joseph Atkins) and Lucretia’s Last Breath (a modern masque based upon Handel’s youthful masterpiece, La Lucrezia).

Mezzo-soprano Clara Kanter recently graduated with distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She is a frequent performer of baroque repertoire, and has featured as a step-out soloist for Messiah with Nevill Holt Opera Young Artists, and with the Handel House Singers directed by Laurence Cummings, in operas by Caldara with La Serenissima at Wigmore Hall, and in Bach’s St Matthew Passion with the Academy of Ancient Music at Cadogan Hall. Future plans include performances of Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater in London and Oslo.
